This past 7th of June, guests of the Triode gallery have been equipped with a previously unheard of accessory at a design preview: A virtual reality headset. Jacques Barret, the founder of Triode, has inaugurated the virtual extension of his Parisian address, a first in the contemporary furniture scene.
A 120 m2 classical Parisian apartment within which architects are invited to wander to discover the American design which the gallery showcases. “I am in love with our address on the rue Jacob which is both intimate and central yet the small size of the space sometimes prevents us from showing monumental pieces, forcing us to make choices with regards to the brands which we decide to put at the forefront” explains Jacques Barret. “I therefore sought after creating a virtual space for architects, an entirely digital family apartment within which they may walk around and change a chandelier or wallpaper at the click of a button. It is mind blowing. We may place all of the American creators and brands for Parisians to discover!” summarizes Jacques Barret.
Triode already presents 80 pieces, including Roll & Hill, Apparatus, Bec Brittain, Lindsey Adelman and Finn Juhl's furniture, while partner brands equip the rest of the apartment: Bulthaup Haussman for the kitchen and Calico for the wallpaper. The system was developed by Waolab, a specialist in virtual reality

Based in Seattle, American designer and artist John Hogan started experimenting with glass at a young age. His pieces, which spans functional objects and sculpture, focuses on the optical qualities of glass. The simple beauty of John Hogan’s personal work has endeared him to collaborators such as with Roll & Hill, Ladies and Gentlemen Studio, Bec Brittain, Atelier de Troupe or Iacoli & McAlister. Triode will soon present a selection of new pieces, and some exclusive.
From June 7th, 28 rue Jacob 75006 Paris.
